The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) of Egypt has announced a significant update regarding type approval procedures. Please refer the regulation : Suspension of type approval for 3G telecom

Effective October 1, 2025:

• 3G-only devices will no longer be eligible for type approval, nor will shipments containing such devices be approved for release.
• This restriction applies exclusively to equipment that supports only 3G technology.
• Devices that support 2G only, or multi-generation combinations such as 2G/3G/4G, 2G/3G/4G/5G, or 3G/4G/5G, remain eligible for approval and import.

This measure aligns with Egypt’s strategy to phase out outdated 3G-only technology while maintaining approval for both legacy 2G devices (used for basic services) and modern multi-generation devices.
